“I am a survivor. My artwork came about when I tried to paint a childhood memory, only I didn’t know how to paint fear, pain, terror, feelings that you are not safe. I cried, I screamed, but no-one heard so I’ve painted that. So in essence it is a double portrait, at 3 just after the plaster of paris had been removed from my pelvis and legs and at 45, the year I plucked up courage to paint the picture.”
