“I made this painting shortly after graduating from high school. I was exploring the feeling of being trapped that accompanied my experiences with bullying – having nowhere to turn and feeling utterly helpless. I was also trapped within myself at the time, attempting to bury the secret of my homosexuality because of the hatred I experienced all around me. I’m fortunate to have broken down those walls now, and am presently enjoying the beautiful view from the other side!”
