DEAR CYBER BULLIES, by Gemwolfdusk

Dear Cyber Bullies,

What did they ever do to you?
Why do you encourage suicide?
What do you get out of telling them to die?

Why do you write them hate filled things
On their Facebook wall, Myspace, Formspring, E-mail, texts, or anything else
Where you can hide behind a username or an anonymous number?

You don’t know them.
You don’t know what they go through.
You don’t know what it feels like to be them.

You tell them nobody loves them,
You tell them they’re worthless,
You tell them to die.

I feel sorry for you, I really do,
Because you’ll never get to know them
As the people they really are.

What if you degrade them so much
That they can’t take it anymore?
What if they really do commit suicide?

How would you feel knowing you were the cause?
How would you feel knowing you are the reason why
Others are crying over the loss of a loved one?

How would you feel if someone told you to die?
Remember: Do unto others,
As you would have them do unto you.

I say that, yes, sticks and stones can break your bones,
But words can, and do, injure the mind.
And that is an injury that can be so much more detrimental.

The person you bully is a person too,
They are just different from you.
All people deserve respect.

Yet as I write all this, I realize,
A better question to ask is:
Why do I need to ask these questions?

Sincerely,
A single “No” can be the start of change

“A friend of mine was told to commit suicide and join his friends in hell.  This really hit a nerve because NOBODY deserves to be told that.  I find any kind of bullying to be just blatantly WRONG and it upsets me that people, for no reason, bully others and tell them to die like that.”
