QUESTIONS WITH NO ANSWERS BUT MY OWN, by Linda R

~Questions With No Answers But My Own, by Linda R
Did being born into the bleakness of poverty
mark me as different?
Did being a motherless child, unloved and abandoned,
groom me to become a bully’s target?

Did moving from one tar-papered shack to another
mark me as different?
Did being skinny and shy, afraid to speak out, or defend
place that invisible mark on my forehead?

Did believing their ugly words make me weak?
Did fearing their ugly words make them strong?
Now years later, it matters not.
For I’ve found answers of my own.
