Why do they terrorize him so?
Why can I not defend him?
Is it because I’m afraid to be branded different,
Or because they say he deserves it?
No one deserves to be called a freak.
No one should ever have to question themselves.

As for being different, I already am,
So why am I so afraid?
Why do I not wish for him to leave,
But neither wish for him to stay?

Because of these questions I’m disgusted with myself;
Disgusted for never being able to say
Exactly what was on my mind.

“This was for my dear friend who was there for me in my times of need, but I was not there for him. I guess I was worried about the comments people would say about me should I speak up for him. It just goes to show how much we are secretly worried about what will bring us down from ‘popularity.’ But is popularity really worth it? I’ve found it not to be.
“Be yourself, stand up for what you think is right, and don’t let anyone tell you what you are or aren’t. The only ugly people in this world are the ones who cannot see the beauty in others.
“I stood up for my friend later, and we are still friends to this day. The only bad thing that happened to me was knowing I could’ve acted sooner.”
