~Typecast my Dragon Sleeps, by Shannon Kringen
The piece is about finding a sense of self through taking many self portrait photos and painting my face in my own unique way. I was bullied a lot as a kid for being “weird and different”. i was the loner misfist aRtist in my high school who hid out in the aRt room and found solace in playing tennis, making art, writing, acting and singing in the choir. my social life was so very happy aside from a couple good friends. but on “stage” and with my aRt making and sharing i felt powerful and valuable. today i model for art classes and this makes me feel included and needed/appreciated part of the community.
still working on healing my personal life.
