STICKS AND STONES… by David Virgillius

~Sticks and Stones… by David Virgillius
“This piece was created in relation to my past experience of seeing myself and others bullied, and how others have tried to ‘help’. This help often came in the form of lip-service comfort and hypocritical actions to deal with the situation. Over time, I had noticed that this support ultimately amounted to nothing in contrast to the sheer amount of negative words used by the bullies. I had also noticed that contrary to the sticks and stones ditty – words hurt worse than physical bullying and would like to amend the jingle to this: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names shall forever scar me. Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away. It’ll only make it worse.”
